Character Name: Rui Ninomiya
Character Age: 19
Character Species: Human
Current Health: Not great
Outfit: A long, styled blond wig, thick red glasses, a black corset style top, a black and red skirt, a belt, garters and knee high heeled boots.
Character Canon: Gatchaman Crowds/Gatchaman Crowds Insight
Link to History: The world of Gatchaman Crowds is not unlike modern-day Tokyo, except in 2014 or so, a social media platform called GALAX was unleashed upon the world. This platform allowed for the gamification of doing good deeds and helping people out. The goal was to do efficiently what no government seemed willing to and taking care of those in need, while awarding virtual points for doing so. It was a massive hit.
The mastermind behind GALAX, dubbed LOAD, was actually the 16 year old Rui, who'd learned how to code watching hackers online. The invasion and intervention of Berg Katze forced Rui out into the light as they'd been manipulated into behaving against the interests of the heroes - the Gatchaman. Rui didn't believe in these heroics and Berg Katze used that to their advantage to wreak havoc. The Gatchaman, with Rui's help, took down Berg Katze and rebuilt any wreckage through the use of Rui's other skill CROWDS.
A year later, with Rui as one of its members, Gatchaman are faced with a new threat called VAPE who are standing before them in an effort to destroy CROWDS and GALAX and send the world into its pre-social media chaos.

★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★
Skills:
*Hacking
*Programming
*Business
*Tri-lingual: English, Japanese & Chinese
Canon Abilities:
*NOTE transformation: Like any proper magical girl crossed with gundam anime, Rui can transform into their Gatchaman form with the use of the NOTE. This NOTE was generated from Rui's soul and attacking the NOTE causes internal injury to Rui. Although no bigger than usual, Rui's suit looks closer to a gundam than a costume. Rui just needs to speak the words to make it happen.
*Amnesia Effect/Amnesia Remind: Under Amnesia Effect, Rui can only be seen by others that possess a NOTE. Remind is the cancellation of this effect.
*CROWDS: Rui can share their power with others through something like a network by creating and uploading a CROWDS app. This allows the people that use it to have their own blue avatar that can travel and act in their stead. Although this is the primary way of using it, Rui can also bestow this skill on people around them that they can see. They can also summon an avatar to use in their stead. Avatars can teleport long distances through the will of each owner.
*Teleportation: Rui can teleport themself into areas of danger while outside of their suit. The further the distance, the more difficult it is. The mechanic is through digitizing themself, so if they need to get somewhere outside their reach, someone where they need to go will likely get a call so that Rui can ride the electronic connection. This also works with things like electricity poles/wires, gaming consoles, computers...anything with an electrical current. Short distances don't require a transformation, nor do they require a call.
*Gatchaman Teleportation: The ring on Rui's back is used primarily to transport allies and anyone needing help as necessary along the same current by opening a portal. They need only think of who needs to be moved, open the portal and greet them at the other end.
X Ring: The ring used for teleportation and can also be used to fly/glide upon.
X Saucer: A small circular device that rests at their hip, when brought into their hand it will spin and create electricity which allows for electric attacks.
Digitize: Used to turn CROWDs back into digital code for containment purposes, to transport themself along the electric current and also can be used separately as an electric AOE.
Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Fangs, horn, claws and tail. It's going to be a bit of a frightful sight.
Role Reasoning: Rui's primary motivation sounds good on the surface, but like any radical thinker, they also believe that it's their way and no other can possibly be acceptable. Rui's high level of distrust surrounding adults and leaders makes them a prime candidate for causing upheaval, and exactly how they got into this mess in the first place. Although accused of being motivated by profit, they aren't, they're merely an idealist that has taken it too far. If anything, Rui needs to channel this rebellious spirit into something a bit more palatable, and realize that their solution is not the only one. They are kindhearted, they believe in change - it's just that for all the talk, Rui hasn't changed very much. It's likely something to explore to change those motivations into something a little more aspirational.
★ Personality ★
OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:
The matter of Rui's gender is largely ignored and could be hotly debated considering that while they present themself as female the majority of the time, the people around them continuously refer to them as male. There is a portion of the time they also present as male, depending on just what it is they feel like doing. Rui does not look pleased when referred to in this way, but has never protested considering it seems like a lost cause and compounded with their celebrity status the online discourse in their world is downright toxic and hostile.
It is unlikely that Rui is entirely decided. They're only 19, there is ample time in the world to sort out one's gender, but they have been experimenting with presenting as female since the age of 11. This is not something new, nor fleeting. They have spared little expense to own an entire wardrobe of attire and products that they are incredibly comfortable with.
Without having had the chance to breathe, it's unlikely that Rui has decided. They could decide they're female, they could decide their male, or something else entirely. A label like genderfluid is entirely fitting for Rui at this time, and it would've been much better if the people around them were supportive - but they're not. It stands out all the more with a character that's canonically nonbinary, so it's all the more puzzling that they've refused to address this.
Rui prefers the pronouns that match how they're presenting at the given time, or 'they' if someone is unsure. It would probably be more beneficial for Rui to assert themself on this matter.
When Rui was eleven years old, they happened to encounter Berg-Katze while they were out for a walk late at night. Berg-Katze sensed Rui's potential and forcibly pulled their NOTE out of them. The design was a diamond as opposed to the Gatchaman symbol because Berg-Katze found them first. This was the catalyst to Rui's entire involvement in the story. Rui was afraid of the power gifted by a mysterious and malicious alien who would whisper in their ear that they needed to use it more - that they needed to cause chaos.
Rui was so reluctant that they feel guilt for not acting enough during the 2011 earthquake. They would eventually loosen the grip of fear and offer their power to others, recruiting the 100 with a goal of making the world a better place.
This, however, would blow up rather spectacularly in Rui's face when Berg-Katze hijacked their body after delivering a severe beating thanks to Rui's kindhearted nature and unwillingness to sew chaos, discord and frankly pain to the world around them. The forced pulling out of the NOTE felt incredibly invasive and uncomfortable, as was everything that followed, it wasn't until Berg-Katze was sealed away within Hajime that Rui learned to embrace the power they'd been gifted, to use it as a force for good.
The confrontation with the leader of VAPE was a huge blow specifically to Rui's ego and belief system, and while Rui began by stubbornly holding steadfast to their ideals and belief that every person is capable of change and everyone can change the world, their resolve begins to crumble and wobble in light of the fact that their friends and support system believe this instigator that attacked them is right, and everything that Rui has worked for so far is nothing but a tool that can be abused and that somehow it's Rui's fault.
In fact, the biggest sticking point is that some of them want the elimination of CROWDS. Rui does not take any of this well and with that resting heavily in their mind, giving them a lot to think about it sends Rui in to a depressive tailspin because ultimately it feels like their friends and comrades in arms are saying they don't need Rui, and perhaps fighting this fight for a better world just is not worth it.
At this canon point, the words have been said and Rui needs to work through their thought process.
It is possibly most worrisome that the relationship that Rui has that's most important to them is with their AI, named X. X is not sentient, but rather monitors various systems and problems with GALAX and Rui's business and alerts them to the problem. Rui converses with X frequently, having no one else to talk to, no one else they trust. Rui relies on X to do anything that can be done with AI, such as piloting their Gatchaman suit, or self-driving the car.
Outside of X, Rui was connected to Berg-Katze, who significantly changed their life, but with the alien sealed away that relationship has been severed. It's just as well, as Berg-Katze has little complimentary to say these days about Rui.
They share a tenuous friendship with Hajime Ichinose, as she's the type to befriend literally everyone and is so off-beat in her thinking she rarely challenges anyone. Rui would call her a friend, in a way, but she's never there in their times of trouble, nor is she the least bit respectful about their gender. It's Hajime herself that outs Rui to the entire group, something that irked them greatly, however Rui doesn't exactly have a lot of people they can count on and they believe this relationship is acceptable as it is, even though they don't have support from Hajime - or anyone for that matter.
